Steve is the founder and driving force of Fabric Merchants, Inc., where he oversees operations, is the primary buyer and works closely with the company’s vendors and suppliers including domestic and international mills, print plants, garment companies and cutting services. The third generation of his family to work in the textile industry, Steve launched the company in 1995, after a long and successful tenure as the main buyer for the former House of Fabrics, at the time the largest retail fabric chain in the country.
Over the years, he has grown Fabric Merchants from a small jobbing operation to a major wholesale supplier of apparel fabric that occupies a 20,000 square foot facility near the heart of Los Angeles’ fashion district. He built a vast network of relationships and partnered with a California-based printing plant to produce an in-demand line of cotton and cotton blend prints called T-Knit Options that established Fabric Merchants as the T-knit print supplier to the fabric store industry.
When Steve takes a break from dreaming up new approaches to bringing his customers the latest in apparel fabrics, he enjoys cycling, cross-fit training, playing guitar and spending time with his family and two dogs. He and his wife Nelly are deeply committed to community and charitable causes and they support a variety of non-profit organizations.
Steve’s father, Harry Wisner built the independent fabric store division of the company and worked alongside his son for many years. He was the consummate salesman and customers throughout the U.S loved working with him.
